JTAG/RGH XB360 vs Jailbroken PS3

I'm looking to get into the modding community but I don't know if I should get a RGH/JTAG or Jailbreak a PS3.
I am aware that buying KV's can be expensive.
Are there any downsides to buying a JTAG/RGH and a Jailbreak?
